Would you go back in time to meet someone who is hard-working? Helen Keller is famous for a lot of things, but one reason why she is famous is because she was the first person who was deaf and blind to graduate from college. I spent the day with her when she graduated.
Our day started off by going to Radcliff College where she would graduate. She was wearing a blue hat and gown. She introduced me to her teacher, Anne Sullivan. Anne showed me how she taught Helen. Then Helen showed me some of the Braille books she read during the school year. She told me, “The most beautiful things in the world cannot be touched, they must be felt with the heart.” I told her that is something smart to say. I could tell Helen was so happy when she graduated.
I learned that anything is possible if you try. I learned this because Helen Keller couldn’t see or hear and she learned how to talk. Helen is a very courageous person. I wish I could spend another day with this amazing person.
